2025.04.07 News MDR Just Became Easier to Use! New Features Have Been Added. MDR

MDR(Materials Data Repository) has been updated to a new version.

Key Highlights of the Updates

  1. Improved User Interface: Language switching, high-speed image zoom, and mobile optimization implemented.
  2. Easier Access to Researcher Information: Added Links to SAMURAI, ORCID, and ROR.
  3. Enhanced Data Acquisition: Search by vocabulary, bulk download for large files, and expanded WebAPI.

Details of the Updates

Improved User Interface
  1. Site Guidance Now Available in Japanese
    You can now switch the display language of the MDR site between Japanese and English.
  2. Enhanced Top Page for "Featured Works" and "Recently Uploaded"
    Descriptions have been added to "Featured Works" on the top page. Furthermore, the "Recently Uploaded" section now showcases three randomly selected latest papers and datasets registered within the past month, offering opportunities for new encounters and discoveries. (①②)
  3. Significantly Improved Image Zoom Speed
    We've enhanced the display speed of images within MDR. Zooming in and out is now significantly faster, enabling smooth and detailed inspection.
  4. Optimized Mobile Viewing Experience
    We've optimized the screen layout for mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. Thumbnail images providing data overviews are now displayed larger for improved readability.
Easier Access to Researcher Information
  1. ORCID and ROR Links Added
    Easily find comprehensive researcher details through direct links to ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) and ROR (Research Organization Registry). (③)
  2. Improved Connection with SAMURAI
    For NIMS authors, quickly access their profiles on SAMURAI*. Direct links to bibliographic information within SAMURAI are also now available. (④)
    *SAMURAI is the NIMS Researchers Directory Service, an electronic database that aims to introduce NIMS researchers and their work to the public.

Enhanced Data Acquisition Capabilities
  1. MatVoc* Vocabulary URI Search
    Vocabulary search is now available using MatVoc vocabulary URIs. Direct link to MatVoc provided. (⑤⑥)
    *MatVoc is a browsing service for materials vocabulary information accumulated by the NIMS Materials Data Platform.

  2. Enhanced Bulk Download Functionality
    The bulk download feature now supports files larger than 100MB. This allows users to download large files without concern for file size, significantly improving convenience.
  3. Expanded WebAPI Enables Access to More Detailed Information
    The metadata available through the WebAPI now includes detailed information on materials, such as equipment and samples. We have also implemented a bulk metadata retrieval function using OAI-PMH.
